Obligatory base module 1
Learning outcomes
The student who has passed the course should be able:
- to describe structure and shape of organic molecules, properties of chemical bonds, forces between molecules and their role in governing physical properties of organic compounds,
- to identify functional classes of organic molecules and know principles of their naming,
- to understand why and how organic reactions occur,
- to describe behaviour of acids and bases and explain acidity and basicity of functional groups,
- to describe main interconversions of functional groups and explain mechanism of these reactions,
- to identify main classes of biomolecules and understand interrelationships between their structure and functions.
